SMOKING CESSATION PROGRAMS

If you have decided to reduce the mob of smokers huddling outside your door during smoke breaks, coffee breaks or lunch breaks; to increase morale, and/or to decrease insurance premiums; you can provide your employees with help and support, and cut down your operating costs as well. The North Shore Smoking Cessation Program is the way to do it. Reliance on willpower often results in a disappointing attempt to stop smoking. Like moods and emotions, willpower fluctuates and it's not always consistent or effective. Psychologically, it's more agreeable to be rid of something that isn't wanted; than it is to give up something perceived as enjoyment. In motivated individuals, the program works to reduce the desire to smoke and provides healthier options.


The Program Includes:

• Two, 2-hour group hypnosis sessions scheduled approximately one week apart.

• Part I - Becoming a Non-Smoker

  Utilizing cutting edge techniques in deep relaxation techniques, guided imagery, as well as instruction in the proper use of self suggestion.

• Part II – Remaining a Non-Smoker

  Reinforcement and encouragement, staying motivated, overcoming relapse with guided imagery.


Each Participant Receives:

• Two reinforcement CDs: “Remaining a Non Smoker” and a “Relaxation Breathing”.

• A “Stop Smoking” manual, which is distributed to participants prior to “quit” date to educate on the hazards of smoking and to dispel the myths related to guided imagery/hypnosis.


How Hypnosis Helps You Quit Smoking

Hypnotism temporarily bypasses the critical factor of the conscious mind and allows access to the subconscious mind. The behavioral changes are then experienced through suggestions. Combined with behavior modification, relaxation techniques, visualization, future pacing, and aversion therapy are powerful techniques to stop smoking. Naturally, your motivation and commitment to stop smoking are essential.


Visualization

One of the most powerful attributes of the human psyche is its ability to visualize (or imagine). Hypnotism helps to develop and focus the powers of visualization. The ability to visualize one's self as a non-smoker, enjoying new health, energy and vitality, is a major asset. Visualization enables the client to “see” cigarettes as unappealing, bad tasting, foul smelling and revolting. Likewise, its possible to picture and sense clean breath, a healthy appearance, and increased sensitivity to taste. A smoker can visualize himself looking healthier, more active, in better physical condition, breathing easy with stronger, healthier lungs. Through guided imagery/hypnosis, the senses of sight, touch, smell, hearing and taste can all be enhanced and used to modify reactions to achieve goals.


Reinforcement

New non-smokers need reinforcement of his/her smoking cessation program. Habits are acquired over a long period of time. You may cease smoking, but the habit can still be active. Fortunately, if the habit is not used, it fades and disappears. The success of each participants program may depend upon his/her willingness to use a reinforcement CD for 21 consecutive days to gradually weaken and eliminate the habit.

Each participant is involved in the design of their personal plan of action.

PHASE III: ACHIEVEMENT

The philosophy of this stage is to avoid the inherent weakness of the "one-shot" programs. This is accomplished through stress management CDs, as well as deeply discounted private sessions for attendees.
