Smoking Cessation Induction and Script

IF YOU ARE MAKING A HYPNOTIC TAPE BE SURE TO SAY THIS FIRST:
"This hypnotic reinforcement tape is never to be played in a moving vehicle.. or while engaged in activity of any kind. Listen to it at a time, and in a place where you are not likely to be disturbed for 21 consecutive days; thereafter as often as you like."

Make yourself as comfortable as possible, take a slow... deep.. breath, and allow your eyes to close.... allow them to remain closed.  For a moment, imagine yourself letting go of all of your cares and tensions as easily as you let go of the stale air from your lungs.

Imagine a relaxing sensation entering your toes, as your breathing continues to be free and easy - restful.  The relaxation becomes more and more real with each breath you take, gently flowing upward... through  your feet...

It feels sooo good to relax this way... that it becomes easy and automatic for the relaxation to flow  into your ankles...    It now flows up into your calves.  All your nerves and muscles just let go tension, responding to your desire to relax... The relaxation moves right on through your knees, spreading out into your thighs... all the nerves and muscles letting go into a deeper and deeper state of relaxation.
The relaxing sensation becomes more and more real with each breath you take.  Your hips relax now, as that sense of deep relaxation continues right on into your stomach muscles and drifts gently throughout your rib cage.

Each word I say... and each breath you take relaxing you deeper and deeper...  The relaxation moves into your lower back, feel it soothe the length of your spinal column, feel it enter your shoulders.... spreading deep relaxation into the muscles of your shoulders - just as though gentle fingers have just given you a soothing back rub.

The feeling of relaxation moves down into your arms.... through your elbows, going right on out through your hands and fingers... With each breath your take, you just go deeper and deeper... feel your neck relaxing too.... All the muscles in the back of your neck let go of tension....  and your scalp relaxes... It feels so good to allow that feeling of comfort into your forehead and temples.  That's right.. with each breath you just go deeper and deeper.  The tiny muscles of your eyes and eyelids relax... Your cheeks relax. Your mouth may open slightly as your jaw muscles relax... Your entire body now feels completely relaxed...

Now.. imagine yourself being in a peaceful place where you feel relaxed, safe and happy. Someplace beautiful, where you are calm and very happy...  a place where you feel so good. But first, I'm going to count backwards now from ten to one. As I do, it becomes easier and easier for you to imagine the sights, sounds and feelings in your beautiful peaceful place...   It is ok if your thoughts  wander a bit as you go drift deeper into the alpha and theta states.   See, hear and feel or imagine your peaceful place vividly now.

10 - deeper and deeper, relaxing physically...  9 - relaxing mentally... each descending number makes it easier to imagine pleasant sights, sounds and feelings...  8 - deeper, relaxing mentally.. The deeper you go, the better you feel, and the better you feel the deeper you want to go... 7 - The deeper you go, the easier it is to go even deeper, imagining your peaceful place... 6 - every nerve and muscle relaxes completely... as if you're becoming a part of the peace that you imagine..  5 - floating.. drifting deeper...  4 - deeper still... 3 - just drifting in a place of total peace... 2 - so deep!  1 - way, way down into a very deep, inner peace...  a very deep, inner peace.

Anytime you bring your thumb and forefinger together while taking a slow deep breath, then exhale fully, thinking the word RELAX, it's now an automatic reminder of your inner peace. Whenever you do this in the waking state, you feel calm and composed, Every time you go into hypnosis... you go easier and faster and deeper.

Just listen to the sound of my voice now.... as you allow all the unimportant sounds in the environment to fade away... Focusing now on my suggestions to remain a non smoker forever.

Imagine yourself on a big movie screen as you were as a smoker.  Imagine it vividly... Notice that you are connected to this screen by a long cord attached to your wrist... Everyone that smokes connects their smoking habit with their daily activities.  So watch yourself smoking all day long now... (MENTION THE TIMES OF DAY THEY SAID THAT THEY SMOKED THE MOST) It is an awful image... It's sickening to see yourself smoking like this... But you are NOW through with that dirty, smelly.. unhealthy and expensive habit.

Now.. become aware of a pair of scissors in your free hand... You can CUT THE CORD NOW!  That's right... cut all the ties and associations to smoking now. And the screen fades.. and the scissors fade... You've ended all the connections and associations with tobacco in any form.. and you're FREE!!

Smoking never really made you peaceful or calm it made you nervous and caused you seek relief from the nervousness by smoking even more.  You're so glad to know you're through with it all.   Nicotine is poison... and you don't need poison. Smoking is a dirty, smelly, unhealthy habit..... And you'll have nothing to do with smoking ever again.  In fact, it makes you very uncomfortable to even think of smoking...  .  Think of the worst tasting, most disgusting thing you could possibly have in your mouth... cigarettes NOW taste and feel that disgusting to you.. [Repeat 3x] Smoking cigarettes is revolting... disgusting... sickening to you now.

Now... let go of that image, that taste.. and that feeling... and... TAKE ANOTHER SLOW DEEP BREATH... relaxing more deeply now.

Make a silent vow to respect and protect your body now.

What you really quit is Coughing, Pain, Embarrassment, smelly breath and clothes,  a dirty smelly car... a threat to your health and a very expensive habit.  You quit all the negative things you don't want in order to enjoy all the positive things you do want.  You chose to stop smoking completely.  Imagine yourself happy with this decision, because you truly want to remain a non smoker completely and forever...

Just think about all  the benefits of being a non smoker.  [pause or say what the listed on the 'Benefits of Being a Non Smoker' form]  Imagine yourself enjoying all those benefits now... breathing quietly, comfortably. Your lungs feel clear.. Your throat feels relaxed... wonderfully relaxed.... You're completely in control of yourself.... you're calm and confidant.   Your decision to remain a non smoker is final.

You now keep water everywhere their used to be an ashtray.  You drink water anywhere you used to smoke.  And you feel great...  so glad to have cut the ties to smoking...... so glad to be free of the tobacco industry's control over you. . You are a non smoker.   You're feeling so happy and proud of your status as a non smoker.

Take another slow deep breath.. and go deeper..  absorbing every suggestion to remain a non smoker with the part of your mind that governs your self preservation. You're a non smoker.

No matter what the cause, anytime you feel stress... you bring your thumb and forefinger together, take a slow deep breath...  and think the word RELAX as you exhale...... It always calms you... and a slow deep breath of air as a very satisfying replacement for breath of toxic smoke.

AND YOU WILL REMAIN FREE OF WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS. (Repeat 3x)...  You are a non smoker!  Every aspect of your life is better as a non smoker. You've lost all desire to smoke.  No situation can arise that can break down your REFUSAL TO SMOKE.

That's right.. just breathing slow and easy now.. the sound of my voice is guiding you along the road of life...  Imagine yourself enjoying the journey... and soon, you come to a fork in the road....  you look at the road to the left... and see a cold, dreary, barren landscape... this the road of a smoker. This road leads to pain, suffering.

So.. you choose the right road.  breathing a sigh of relief....  walking the road of a non-smoker. This road leads to a long an happy life...... feel yourself bathed in  soothing, radiant light.  The sky above is a deep rich blue. The trees and shrubbery are full of healthy green leaves.  Beautiful, vibrantly colored flowers fill the air is filled with their delicate fragrance. Every step along the road of a non smoker makes you stronger and healthier and happier.

Remember....BRINGING YOUR THUMB AND FOREFINGER together.. taking a deep breath.. exhaling fully while you think the word RELAX... always relaxes you completely... and a slow deep breath of air as a very satisfying replacement for breath of toxic smoke.  You enjoy listening to your reinforcement tape... doing your breathing technique keeps you cal and relaxed..

And now.... I'll count from one to five.. when I reach five you will emerge from hypnosis feeling wonderful in every way.  1... emerging from hypnosis.. 2.. coming back...3... so comfortable,  4... confident, & 5. Awake and alert if this is your waking hours... or ready to drift off into deep, deep sleep if it's bedtime. Congratulations.. you are a non smoker!
